Based in London, Carolina’s art explores geometric abstraction through the repeated winding of silk thread onto acrylic panels. Built through the layering of horizontal and vertical lines, the works develop slowly into structured fields that shift between surface and depth. The reflective quality of the thread responds to light, so that perception is never fixed - the image changes as the viewer moves or the sun shifts, making the act of looking a physical experience.

The process oscillates between control and release. While certain sequences are carefully determined, others emerge as a consequence. This tension between precision and deviation is central to the work, where the grid becomes less a system of order and more a site of negotiation.

Colour is the subject of the work, drawn from personal memory. It determines how the lines assemble, so that meaningful and evocative compositions emerge. Ultimately, the work explores time - how it accumulates through labour, shifts through light, and becomes visible in the act of looking.
